eBook Use   Tags: ebooks kindle ipad  

At this time, ebooks from the vendor EBL (Ebook Library) are the only ebooks you can download as an entire book.  (Some other ebooks providers, such as   Springer, allow you to download PDFs of individual chapters.)

Instructions for EBL books and common readers:

• iPad
• Nook
• Kindle (not supported)

Librarians at a number of Texas public libraries have prepared Ebooks for Texans,  a guide to using ebook readers and sources for free ebooks.

1. Search for your subject in the Library's OneSearch box, using whatever combination of terms you need
2. Look on the left side column for the "Source types" group of filters, and click on "eBooks"   (then click Update)
   
3. The results will now all be ebooks - click on the Online Access icon to connect to the ebook.  (You may be asked to login to the Rice proxy to depending on the source of the ebook and if you are working off campus.

1. Search for your subject in the Library's Catalog box, using whatever combination of terms you need
2. Scroll to the bottom of the result set, and use the drop-down box labelled "location" to select "Internet - View for URL".  Click on the Search Catalog button
3. The results will now all be ebooks - click on the >URL  icon to connect to the ebook.  (You may be asked to login to the Rice proxy to depending on the source of the ebook and if you are working off campus.)
