Dissertations are not only useful for their prose, but also for their comprehensive bibliographies. You can often find sources in the bibliography of a thesis or dissertation that you will not find elsewhere.
Copies of Rice Dissertations and Theses are shelved in the basement stacks of Fondren. Additional microfilm copies are available in the Government Publications Department.
Copies of some dissertations can be downloaded through the ProQuest Dissertations and Theses database, or from a university's local archive. You can also borrow them through interlibrary loan if circulating copies are available. Even if you cannot borrow the entire document, you can request a copy of the bibliography or table of contents.
