The Psi Encyclopedia is a new collection of articles and case studies about psi research, the scientific investigation of psychic phenomena. It's a work in progress, being created by the Society for Psychical Research in London.
More than 300 new entries cover recent phenomena, concepts, cults, personalities, organizations and publications in this updated work. Prominent individuals and personalities in the field are covered, and entries on particular countries trace the development of occultism and parapsychology in each. In certain controversial areas, the case both for and against has been indicated, with sources noted for further study. New features include an Internet resource index and a general bibliography. General and topical indexes are included to aid quick research.
The UFO Encyclopedia is a revised, updated omnibus third edition of a work originally published in three volumes between 1990 and 1996: UFOs in the 1980s (1990), The Emergence of a Phenomenon: UFOs from the Beginning through 1959 (1992), and High Strangeness: UFOs from 1960 through 1979 (1996); and as two volumes in 1998 as The Phenomenon From the Beginning. This new edition includes over one hundred new entries and offers context for the reams of declassified UFO-related documents that have been released in the United States, Brazil, and other countries; explores secret government programs that were revealed in recent years and before; and compiles and explains the UFO phenomena in all its aspects-the sightings, close encounters, investigations, debates, symposia, personalities, hoaxes, debunking campaigns, and conspiracy theories-including expert analysis of the UFO era (which began in the summer of 1947), new works that burst on the scene following release of Steven Spielberg's film Close Encounters of the Third Kind; and historical context for sightings in the century and a half before the UFO era (when such sightings occurred even in the absence of a name for what was being seen).
The Encyclopedia of the Paranormal by Gordon Stein (Editor); Carl Sagan (Foreword by)
ISBN: 1573920215
Publication Date: 1996-02-01
The Encyclopedia of the Paranormal contains over 90 articles by more than 50 experts on topics including the strictly paranormal (psychokinesis, channeling, levitation, astrology, phrenology, palmistry); the historical (mediums, psychic research, alchemy, Houdini); the philosophical (miracles, survival of death, reincarnation); and work on investigatory photography, statistics, the media and the Bermuda Triangle. In his foreword, Carl Sagan says, "I wish [this book] were on the shelves of every newspaper editorial desk and every television newsroom, to encourage more skeptical backbone in reporting . . . . [I]n school libraries so that children would have some counterbalance to the many paranormal and mystical claims in our society."
UFO Sightings Desk Reference by Cheryl Costa; Linda Costa
ISBN: 9781544219233
Publication Date: 2017-03-24
The first book of its kind, the UFO Sightings Desk Reference: United States of America 2001-2015 presents data and analysis for 100,000+ sightings of unidentified flying objects reported by individuals during the first 15 years of the 21st century. Since 1969 the government has claimed no interest in the subject, and the press and media either ignore or ridicule any mention of UFOs. Yet citizen scientists and non-governmental organizations have continued to this day the research into this important subject: this book seeks to make the hardest data available accessible to the general public, as well as other UFO researchers. The book is organized into beginning narrative sections including analysis of UFO sightings, frequently asked questions, and how to use this book, followed by the data. Charts, tables, and maps are presented of summary data for the entire US and individual chapters for all 50 states (down to the county level) plus the District of Columbia. Aimed at the serious UFO researcher, this comprehensive volume is also of value to academic and public libraries, news organizations, and anyone who is interested in what is flying in the skies over their heads where they live.As seen in the New York Times: "People Are Seeing U.F.O.s Everywhere, and This Book Proves ItBy RALPH BLUMENTHAL -- APRIL 24, 2017"
