Rice Research Repository: Deposit your work

The Rice Research Repository (R-3) currently accepts three three categories of content:

• Documents (e.g., articles, book chapters, conference presentations, white papers, reports), images, audio, and video.
  • Deposit documents using the document deposit form
  • Read more about how to submit your documents
• Datasets
  • Deposit datasets using the dataset deposit form
  • Read more about how to submit your datasets
• Undergraduate theses
  • Deposit your thesis using the thesis deposit form

Deposit of Rice theses and dissertations is managed by Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.

In determining whether a work is well-suited for the R-3, we consider the following:

• The work must be produced or sponsored by Rice faculty, researchers, staff, or students. Undergraduate students must receive prior permission to deposit to the repository and will typically be asked to secure sponsorship from a faculty member or Rice organization.
• The work mush be scholarly, educational, creative, or related to the university's mission.
• The work must be in a digital format.
• The work must be complete, permanent, and ready to be distributed. Embargoes are available if you would like to delay access to the work for a specified period of time.
• The creator/copyright owner must be willing and able to grant Rice University the right to publicly distribute and preserve the work via R³.
  • If you transferred your copyright or other reuse rights to a publisher, you may still be able to deposit a version of your work. To help determine if your journal/publisher permits deposit, please see SHERPA/RoMEO (database of self-archiving policies) or contact us using this webform.
• The library must have the capacity to preserve and sustain the work over the long-term.

  • In general, we cannot support large datasets, but we do offer expertise on identifying appropriate disciplinary repositories.
