Lima (which comes from the Quechua Limaq) is the capital of Peru. It is located on the central coast of the country, on the shores of the Pacific Ocean, flanked by the coastal desert and extended over the valleys of the Cillón, Rímac, and Lurín rivers. It was founded on 18 January 1535 with the name "The City of Kings," in the agricultural region that until then was known by the indigenous people as Limaq.

We at Fitch Solutions expect that Peruvian real GDP growth will slow to 2.5% in 2023, from 2.7% in 2022. In Q322, the economy grew by 1.7%, slowing modestly from Q222's 3.3% print.
