* Download Tableau Desktop Public Edition

* Optional:

• If you want to save and publish your work to the Tableau Public server, create an account on the Tableau Public Server.
• Tableau Reader is free and can help export views as high-resolution PNG or vector SVG files. Download it here. 

Update: Tableau Desktop Public Edition now allows you to save files locally for free since version 2024.1, which was released in January 2024. 

Tableau Academic Programs make Tableau Desktop and Tableau Prep Builder free for students and instructors around the world. The free academic license is valid for a year.
