Axson Collection
A collection of original restoration and 18th century British play scripts of which 185 are by William Shakespeare.
To search this collection use the Classic Catalog's advanced search option. In the "Location" field select WRC-AXSON from the drop-down menu. Add any other relevant search terms (such as authors, subjects, etc.) to further limit the search within the Axson Collection.
These promptbooks are digitized versions of the original copies of plays used by Shakespeare performers since the 1600s. They reveal the notes, abridgements and general approaches of theatrical interpreters and how those changed over time.
