The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) site, National Resource for Global Standards (http://www.nssn.org/), was a place to search for U.S. Federal Government Standards as well as International Standards. The site times out now. The ANSI list of publishers of various types of standards (linked here) includes the price of the various standards.
Uses a six digit hierarchical coding system to classify all economic activity into twenty industry sectors. This six digit hierarchical structure allows greater coding flexibility than the four digit structure of the Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) system.
