NAICS and SIC Codes: Public Companies

Bloomberg – service provides financial data on public companies, economic data and company information. (BIC only)

Gale Business: Insights - Use this database to research and analyze companies and industries around the world. It has content needed to explore a global business landscape: extensive reference content from Gale’s core business collection, easy-to-use company fundamentals and investment research reports, industry rankings, profiles, market share data, company histories and more. Provides journal/news coverage of both industries and companies.

Select Advanced Search and there is a box for Industry (NAICS 2012) and another directly under it for Industry (SIC) towards the bottom of the page.

Hoover’s – basic company information for US and International public and some private companies. 

Under Add Industries, choose from SIC or NAICS codes to search for industry by code. After 2 digits have been keyed in a drop down box will appear to help you select from a list of industries.

Mergent Online – – covers a select group of industries by geographic regions. Reports are updated at least once a year and the current and previous year’s reports are available.

Can choose the Primary SIC, Primary NAICS  or click on use code lookup to search industries on the Basic Search page. Under Advanced Search there is a bar labeled Industry Codes that will allow searching for Any NAICS, Primary NAICS,  Any SIC or the Primary SIC. Click on Use NAICS Lookup or Use SIC Lookup to open a new page listing all of the industry codes, if unsure of what industry to look through.
