The Article Galaxy Scholar service allows Fondren Library to supplement existing journal subscriptions and Interlibrary Loan (ILL) services, with the potential for reduced spending while meeting the immediate research needs of faculty and students. It is unmediated ILL for selected journal titles to which we do not currently subscribe or for which we have incomplete holdings. Articles will be delivered in real time via email, generally in less than 15 minutes.
Fondren Library pays anywhere from $18 to $59 per request in order to obtain journal articles this quickly. If your need is not immediate please make use of the usual ILL process (which delivers articles in one to three days on average). This ILL link is included along with the one for AGS.
Instructors, If you need a journal article for course reserves please visit the Course Reserves guide.
OneSearch: The first step is to sign into your library account, so that you can view the AGS links (upper right-hand corner of the page):
Enter the article title in the search box (we recommend that you enclose the title in quotation marks) and click "Search". It is important to always select the "Multiple Resources" option.
After search results have been returned you will need to check the "Expand My Results" box located on the left-hand side so that articles with no full-text are shown.
Click on the online access link as illustrated below:
The AGS link will be located in the "How to get it" section. The usual ILL link is also listed and is the preferred choice if you are not in a hurry for the article.
NOTE: If you are searching for articles outside of Fondren Library resources (e.g. via the journal's website), simply copy/paste the article title into OneSearch, making sure to follow the same recommended strategies described above.
