Using One Search
To use One Search to find government resources on Women's Studies you can do a general keyword search.
However to make your search your targeted, you can use the Advanced Search feature and input specific terms or phrases under "Subject." Examples include such phrases as
- Women and politics
- Women government executives
- Women and work
- Women political activists
You can also combine terms under "Subject." For example, you can start with the term "women" and then add to it, depending on what you are interested in.
- Women
- Women -- Violence against
Then you can add a geographic area to refine your search
- Women -- Violence against -- United States
You can continue to add terms to the phrase
- Women -- Violence against -- United States -- Prevention
- Women -- United States -- History
Add terms such as "congressional hearing" or "statutes and codes" to limit your search to Government Documents. You can also add terms such as "U.S. Congress" to the Author field.
You can limit the number of resources you receive to Government Documents by Library Sublocations, i.e. where the item is (Government Publications - Stacks), or by Material Type (Government Documents) or by Author (using a particular government agency such as Center for Disease Control or Library of Congress or United States Congress House).
When you find a resource you like, look at its "Subjects" to find more or better search terms. You may use these same terms in the databases listed on the right.
