Printing Procedure as of 8/8/24

Open the desired print as a .pdf file in Adobe Acrobat. All computers should default to Acrobat for opening .pdfs
Select dmc-plotter1.rice.edu from the printer menu
Click on advanced and make sure print as image is checked and the resolution is set to 300ppi
Open the Page Setup... dialogue and select or create your paper size as normal
- Do not edit the paper size titled 36x48, we would like to keep this consistent on all computers so we can use it to print standard sized academic posters more quickly
- If printing a different size, create a new paper size. Set margins to .2 in
Orientation should be set to Auto
Page Sizing and Handling should be set to fit
Open the Printer... dialogue
- Select the appropriate preset for the paper type desired
  - The presets automatically change the roll selection to the appropriate slot (Roll 1 for semigloss, Roll 2 for canvas) but you can still manually override the selection by changing it yourself
  - The presets also switch to the appropriate color profile for printing. Do not change the color management settings
- Click Print on both dialog boxes

open the print dialog box
change whatever settings you would like to be included in the preset. This can include things like color management and paper roll selection. Note that paper size is not saved as part of the preset.
- For our plotter, the color management profile that seems to work best is the one for HP Designjet Z6, HP Universal Instant-Dry Satin Photo Paper, Best
Under the presets tab, select Save Current Settings as a Preset...
