"The Rice University Wellbeing Center aims to consistently and compassionately assist undergraduate and graduate students in becoming actively involved in their personal development, so that they can think critically about the impact of their attitudes and behavior on their overall well being. We do this by developing connections with students, offering accurate information, creating spaces for growth, and working collaboratively with professional resources on and off campus. The Wellbeing Center advocates for a balanced campus culture where students are both challenged academically and supported holistically."
Core Functions
"Health Behavior Assessment: We conduct population-level assessments of health status, needs, and assets of students to develop measurable goals and objectives for health promotion initiatives.
Community Advocacy: We advance the well being of students by contributing to the creation of a healthy and socially just campus community and through ongoing dialogue and empowerment of peer mentors in the Residential Colleges and academic departments.
Health Promotion Programming/Services: We develop theory and evidence-based initiatives with the goal of teaching students skills that help them make healthier lifestyle choices. We continually evaluate these programs and services to ensure we are using valid and reliable interventions."
