Background Information
Find 2+ years of background information
NetAdvantage - covers the large industries but will provide current year and 5 years of reports. Once you are in the in Industry Survey, there is a drop down menu at the top which will allow you to select back years.
Journal/Newspaper databases – allows searching by date or date range so you can perform a search that does give backgrounds and current articles.
Tip
Searching for articles on industries is sometimes hard because the word industry is used a lot. Select the ADVANCED SEARCH if available, put in the terms, then scroll down to DOCUMENT TYPE and select INDUSTRY REPORT, INDUSTRY REVIEW, INDUSTRY.
Current Information
Current information would be from today to 1 year out.
Company/Industry Databases – these databases have an industry section with current Industry reports only

- IBIS World

- Mergent Online
- Plunkett Research Center
Analysts Reports – analyst track industries as well as companies
ThomsonOne Use Internet Explorer when accessing ThomsonOne.
Journal/Newspaper Databases – most industry information is collected once a year so there are times when you need to update the information with articles. Don’t forget to use the DOCUMENT TYPE function to construct a better search.
