Rice History and Memorabilia: Sports at Rice

The easiest place to start looking for sports photos. Each of the folders in this list contains prints you can flip through here in the Woodson Research Center and get digital copies made.

Administrative records include materials such as historical, eligibility, scholarship, and participation reports, Southwest Conference meeting minutes, Student Athletic Committee records, media guides, and NCAA scorebooks. Records arranged by sport include rosters, injury reports, statistics, notes, scores, and Letterman Awards. Graphic materials arranged by format and then by sport include photographs, negatives, slides, video, film, and DVDs.

Formed in 1913 as Rice's first alumni-based support group for Rice Athletics, the "R" Association consists primarily of Rice men’s and women’s letterwinners but mainly men's football and track. This material includes photos of member athletes and coaches, official activities, and general Rice sports events. Formats include photographs, slides, negatives and beta format videotapes.

An assortment of prints, photographs, negatives, and negative slides concerning the Rice University campus, student life, sports, professors, the O’Conner House, the Baker Institute, commencements, and other University events.

Many of these scrapbooks created by students over the years feature wonderful Rice sports photographs, newsclippings and memorabilia.
