We’re welcoming students today to the fall 2023 semester on campus, however it doesn’t feel like fall…it definitely feels like summer. 100-degree heat today, and we will continue to see temps in the triple digits for the next week.
But the sounds of the outside door clicking and the constant crank of the gate as students file in and out of the library is a sure sign that classes are back in session. I hope with the continued increase in class size we will see our library visits surpass our 2019 figures.
If you’ve not been here in a while we have a fairly new Assistant Dean for the Center of Education, Brenda Rangel. If you have not met her, I suggest you email her and make an appointment to chat with her over an iced coffee. She is super passionate about helping teachers at all stages succeed in and out of the classroom. She has a great vision and mission for the department and I appreciated the opportunity to visit with her in early August.
The School Literacy & Culture will hold their fall early literacy summit on October 7, 2023. The team is excited to share their knowledge on early childhood learning!
