Off-Campus (Remote) Library Services: Connecting from Off-Campus
Guide to library services while working remotely.
Almost all of the library's online resources are available to you with your Rice credentials.
To search our library from off-campus begin with OneSearch, the big box on the library's homepage.
- Narrow your search results down to Availability: Available Online using the filters on the left
- You will log in with your Rice NetID and password, then be passed on to the journal or other online resource
- Google Scholar Library Links information is in the Articles section
Access via EZproxy (VPN not required)
- Fondren Library resources are web-based and are routed through EZproxy.
- Links to library resources should automatically ask for your Rice NetID and password when you are connected to a network away from Rice campus.
Access via VPN
- Library resources can be accessed with only your Rice NetID, but many other university resources do require a VPN.
- You will need to install both Duo (for dual-factor authentication) and VPN client software to access these while off-campus.

Report a problem
- To report a problem with a library resource use the Contact Us form, selecting "Problem with an electronic resource, website, journal or service" from the dropdown subject menu.
- Please provide specific details in the Question/comment box, including whether you are on/off-campus, browser, and operating system.
